Morocco... We came back from Morocco 2,5 weeks ago and this whole time I've been thinking about what will I write about Morocco. It's been that hard to digest all the experiences we had there. This North African country was very different from what I had thought. The reason we chose Morocco (apart from the cheap flights, of course) was the good ratings on Trip Advisor. Morocco had won the Travellers' Choice award and was the number 1 destination in 2015. Naturally this created high expectations.
These expectations hit reality hard already on the way from the airport driving through the streets of Marrakech. I was sitting in an old (older than me) Mercedes taxi and watching out from the back seat window thinking: "INDIA. We have come to India." With all respect to the subcontinent, where I have lived one year of my life, Marrakech looked very much like New Delhi.
Short overview of our trip to Morocco so you know what to expect if you decide to read on:
The first week stayed in a resort. We chose Pullman Marrakech Palmeraie Resort and Spa as they had a good offer at time of booking and the facilities looked good. This was just to unwind and relax after from all the stresses at work and everyday life. From the resort the adventure really started and we drove our rented car to Sahara for 2 nights desert safari. After the safari we came back to Marrackech for New Year's and visited Essaouira on the cost from there.
You won't find 1001 nights stories from my posts about Morocco - instead I hope you will learn from my experiences so that you trip to Morocco will be even better than mine. Inshallah!
