Long weekend and no plans? Perfect excuse for a short break in Långvik Wellness hotel & Spa.
the next morning was good too and so we checked out with full tummies, ready to face the real world again!
I've been wanting to go to Långvik for a while. As a traveler I'm a real hotel enthusiast. I just love hotels, luxurious hotels, boutique hotels, unique hotels, grand hotels, design hotels, spa hotels, wellness hotels, beach hotels... So it isn't a surprise that the best part of planning a trip or a holiday for me is choosing the hotel. I love browsing the pictures and reading about the facilities. Asia is by far the best part of the world for hotel lovers. You can stay in a luxurious five star design hotel for less than a 100 euros. I've booked a five star boutique hotel in Bangkok for 50 euros a night for two. Service is another reason why hotels in Asia are great. There's no doubt service in general is good in Asia but the courtesy, politeness and number of of hotel staff in Asia is a big reason why I enjoy hotels in Asia so much. There's just generally more people to serve you in hotels in Asia and that's real luxury.
But back to our weekend getaway in Långvik in Kirkkonummi. One of the best things about Långvik is that it's close to Helsinki, where we live. Just 30 minutes by car on Länsiväylä towards Hanko and you have arrived to your destination. You'll find amble of space for parking and parking is free at Långvik. Good! On first of May weekend they had an attractive special deal and we paid only 59€ per person for the night. Well, we would have paid if we hadn't upgraded to a sea view room. That was 5 euros more per person. I didn't get to see their "forest view" rooms but my advise is don't bother paying extra for the sea view rooms. The view is not that great, at least from the lower level rooms. Access to the spa & wellness area and breakfast was included in the room rate.
Spa & wellness
The spa & wellness area included one large pool, I think 25 meters long, two jacuzzi and a cold dipping pool. There's also a pool bar in the pool area and you are allowed to take your sparkling to the jacuzzi. Very adult like, which I like. They also have lounge beds and a fire place surrounded with comfy sofas where you can watch the (real) fire while having a glass wine with your loved one. Apart from the pool area you can relax in the different saunas. They have a traditional Finnish sauna but also a steam room and an infrared sauna. Unfortunately all saunas are separate for men and women so you can't relax together. I have to give Långvik minus points for that. It's too swimming hall like for spa & wellness hotel. The wellness area also includes a decent size gym with modern equipment. I even saw some people there although usually hotel gyms are empty.
You can also pamper yourself with the [ comfort zone] spa treatments in Långvik. If I love hotels, I really love spas. There's no better way to forget about the cold, hard world and get a sweet massage. When I was younger I didn't like massages because it either hurt or tickle me when somebody gave me a back massage. Nowadays it hurts more and tickles never... wonder why that is? In my last massage I heard that I have a tight scalp and that's probably causing my headaches. So I decided to have a head massage at Långvik. I booked an Aromasoul Oriental Head Ritual (don't you just love the names of the treatments, such grand names for something quite simple) that was a 30min head, shoulder and neck massage with aromatic oils.
It was nice to arrive at the spa in your bathrobe and be shown into a beautiful, small treatment room. The massage therapist was friendly and courteous and I can't find anything to complain in the massage itself. Another thing I liked was that the room was well insulated from any outside noise and I could listen to the nice, soft sounds from loudspeakers. Afterwards there was a relaxation area if you wanted to lounge some more and listen to the relaxing sounds. The spa & wellness area is a good reason to go to Långvik, even if just for one night like we did.
Food etc. in Långvik
We booked a table together with the room booking although that wasn't necessary since the hotel was not full. On 1st of May weekend they just had one restaurant open, the Långvik bistro. I think on busier times you can choose from two restaurants. Service was great at the bistro and so was the food. Menu was new and not long but there was enough to choose from. Prices were quite steep; all mains were over 23 euros. We both had steaks and were veeery happy with our choices as we were with the wine that the waitress recommended. Desert (créme brulee and roasted white chocolate) was delicious too.
In the evening there isn't much to do in Långvik and I thought it was a good idea that they showed movies in their auditorium. Not many hotels put their meeting rooms in use while there's no big conferences. We had already seen Crazy, Stupid, Love though. Breakfast buffet
